Ummm.... 6 lbs?
No..... 14"?
Seriously.... it's easy. Beyond easy actually. One small bolt with a 10mm head holds it in. It takes longer to pick the car up off the ground and set it back down than to do the work.
A better place to start would be, why are you wanting to do that in the first place? They don't often just go bad.

Well I'm lookin at a seller's camaro and for whatever reason, he does not have a VSS in it, and so I was wondering what the price of that would be to do it if I bought this person's car. I was just worried that you'd have to take apart the trans mission to put the VSS in. Thanks

No, it's real easy. If you know how to change oil, it's just about on the same level of difficulty as that; except probably not as messy.
If it "doesn't have one in it", there'd be a giant hole in the side of the transmission, gushing fluid. That doesn't sound right.

This is how he described it "the trans is a road race trans with no speed sensor. " *shrugs* I knew cars had to have a mechanism like this but before now I never knew that this was the specific device so I don't know much about it as you can tell.

Maybe there's a plug in the hole or something.... I can't see it real clearly at my angle to know exactly what he did, though. T-5s all have that hole, if they fit one of these cars. It's the same hole as for a cable drive for a cable speedo.
In any case, the VSS itself bolts right in, very easy.

No... but you will need to get the right speedo gears, for whatever rear gear it has, to go along with it. And hopefully there's a drive gear on the transmission's mainshaft, and even more hopefully, it's the right one to match whatever the rear end gear turns out to be.
