Do I need short or tall valve covers?

I am going to buy some aftermarket valve covers, and they come in two sizes. Tall and short, should I go with the tall to be safe or will the short be okay?

I'm pretty sure that the OE valve covers are of the "short" variety. The long ones are usually just for looks, but sometimes needed for real big rocker arms, which I'm sure you don't have.

Let me expand on what's been said. If you use perimeter valve covers, the OEs are shorties. The only time to use tall (besides looks) would be when using full roller rockers. I am not to sure how it relates to center bolt valve covers, but I would think it is the same.

I would add that you might have some issues with using the tall VCs and alternator clearance. I had a driverside mount alternator with a serpentene belt and the alternator hot terminal would touch on the vc.
