SMOKE AND GAS SMELL
After I got my cam installed its smoked for a while (black and white). When I start the car or just drive around town, my car wont smoke, but when I race, rpm's over 4000 rpms it smokes up the whole street and has a real gasy smell.The smoke is white, but it only smokes after 4000 rpms on 1st and 2nd, after 2nd the smoke is gone. What do you think it is. Also when I sit at idle for a while you can smell the gas, card idles great and some times is hard to start. But all over it moves and I can feel the difference with the cam..big difference!! also i'm not losing oil or water.

5.0 tpi, 4 wheel disk brakes, posi 3.23 rear gear, t-tops, straight no dents perfect black paint, with flowmaster exhaust system and a blown tranny..(cause of tranny, I bought the car for $1000 with a blue tittle)
cars has been sitting for 6 years..

I would bet its a vac leak.
My car was doing the same thing and I found a vaccume leak on the brake booster line "the metal tube was broke"
Time for the carb cleaner bath!

The gas smell is probably just the car running richer than you are used to with the new cam. You can advance your timing to get rid of that, it also may be whats causing the black smoke. I have mine set at 18* BTDC and it still smells a little of gas, more noticeable at idle. But if you aren't loosing oil, then I don't know what the white smoke could be.

Well I just found out that I am losing oil!!!Dammit!!! I dont see how, my car never smoked before??? I dont know what it could be?? At idle or on start up it wont smoke at all, only on 1st and 2nd over 4000rpms after that its fine.(to my knowledge) also when I rev it hard it will smoke a little. What do you think it is?? Well that sucks!
Did you or the shop put in valve springs or replace any valve related items? It sounds like some thing in the valve train doesent like the bigger cam.

No just the cam, used same lifters and valve springs. Is that bad?? Hope not. Only replaced the timing chain and sprokets. everyting else is the same.
