Fuel not burning and headers get hot.

What is causing my TPI 350 to blow out my collector gaskets and warp the collectors enough to have to get new ones? The short tube headers get so hot they turn red and my coating has chipped off with the extreem heat. I put 2 range lower plugs in there for a NOS setup, but this happens without using NOS. Is it a problem with timing? I got bigger fuel injectors, but I got the car tuned for the bigger injectors(new chip customized) and this happened before the newer computer prom.

Usual cause of super-hot header primaries is distributor base advance setting too retarded. Whip out your timing light, disconnect the EST, and go to town. There's a procedure in the Tech Articles section if you need it.

Thanks man I will do that. I know how to pull that brown conector up by the air compressor? I think that is it to turn off the computer adjusted timing? I am also checking the MAF as I got a MAF to low signal on the computer. Maybe I blew that little resistor.

Checked the MAF and all is well there. I'll check the timing some day soon.

Could be timing. Have you ever adjusted it?

Excessive pressure some place there shouldn't be. Seals or clearances to that area would be my first guess.

Never have adjusted the timing and I have checked the timing before and it is around 6-8 degrees I think.
I did however get a stage 4 chip from tpis and since have not checked timing.

The cylinder ring in the 1st cylinder I believe is gone after a 100 shot of NOS at the track and woops I didn't use an rpm switch for low rpms in between automatic trans shifts on the run. Ever since my car sounds like it is missing a cylinder.

Cat could be clogged causing the excessive pressure and blowing out the collector gaskets.

By all means check timing. And note there is several degrees of advance built in the dist. module so have the idle down. When the engine is cold and idling fast you'll get a bad reading on the timing.

After you verify timing...I'd then see if it's running rich...start by pulling a plug, if it's black/sooty, then monitor the AF mixture.
