need help ASAP....Headlights don't work but brights do????
The subject pretty much says it all. I was driving along and my headlights just stopped working. I pulled over and looked for anything unusal and found nothing. Tried the brights and they worked so I just drove home the rest of the way with those on, pissing off everyone on the road at the same time.
Please help, I really need to get back out tonight

A little while back, I had a similar problem. One of my headlights worked on the low beam but not the other. They both worked on high beam though. I messed with the wires and that didn't solve it so I decided that for 5 bucks a light, I could replace them. That did the trick. I don't know if something had burned out in the light or what. But I would suggest replacing the light - for 5 or 6 bucks you can't really go wrong - hope this helps
It's not uncommon for only one filament in the dual-filament bulb to burn out. The only way to fix it is to replace the entire bulb.
If that doesn't fix it, then it's most likely the low-beam pole on the selector switch inside the steering column.

It IS a tad more uncommon for both low-beam filaments to blow at the same time. I had a similar problem once.. If your car has the push-button switch for the parking lights/headlights, take it out. There should be a male connector in the back of it, and a female connector inside the dash. Look at the pins on the male connector to see if they've got a lot of corrosion on them. If they do, clean it off as best you can. Then open the case up, and look at all the contacts in there, and clean them off to make sure they're getting a good connection. Look for the two connectors that would turn the headlights on, and find the corresponding female connectors in the dash. Jump those two connectors with something like a paperclip. It might spark a bit, so you might want to use a pair of insulated pliers. In any case, if the lights come on, you'll know it was the switch. And hopefully, cleaning the contacts fixed the problem. Of course, if you don't have a light switch like the 91-92 Firebirds did, then I just wasted your time.

I do have a light switch in my '90 GTA. But when I hit the switch the lights flip up and down like normal, they just don't come on??
The shaft to turn on the turning indicators does not like to click into place well when I'm trying to turn on the brights, so would that have anything to do with it?
