good intake?
What intake do I want with my dart iron eagle heads for my sbc? Right now I have an intake on it that I got for a friend right after I built the engine just to get it running. Its a polished aluminum dual plane with not much rise to it.
Anyone have any suggestions on what intake I would want to look into?

What cam are you going to use? What the rpm range you are going to be using the engine?

Ive heard good things about the Air Gap and Jr.
The cam is a Comp Cams Blue Racer .510 lift and I think the duration is 224/234 Does that sound right?
Heads have 64cc chambers
intake 2.020
exhuast 1.60
200cc
RPM range somewhere between 2500 to 7500
Converter stalls at 3000

Comp doesn't make the Blue Racer line. That's a Crane trade name for their budget line of non-R&D cams that are just copies of old Stone Age grinds that people refuse to quit buying; the name only exists so that Crane can take those people's money without associating the Crane name with obsolete product.
That cam looks suspiciously like the Edelbrock RPM cam..... 224°/234°, .488"/.510". Available of course for the last 30 or 35 years that I know of, as the "Stage 2", "¾ race", etc. etc. etc. Not the cam I would pick for ANY motor.
That being said, Edelbrock sells it as part of their "package" with the RPM intake and RPM heads (surprise!) so that's probably a good starting point for an intake selection.

Meant to write Crane.
I did at first but then deleted. Im quite aware of this cam's outdated grind with poor duration. I have a friend of mine who builds race engines for a living ordering me a new one. He said the duration is where the power comes from. I haven't got back with him yet to see what he picked out, but were going with something around .500 lift more or less, probably less.
With a better cam in it, I should be looking towards a Vic Jr. instead of an RPM air gap?
