86 Iroc not passing emmissions
Currently the Server Engine soon light is on but I cant get it checked out till this weekend.... So I wanted to hear what some of you think.
I pulled an 86 truck engine and swapped all of the TPI and Emmissions equip from my 86 Iroc to the new block.
Engine was rebuilt new cam new pistons bored .30.
I replaced the O2 sensor and the Emmission equip is all hooked up and Put a new cat on it (reg factory cat.
I never told them its a truck engine in the camaro... do they have to hook the engine up differently because its a truck engine?
WIll not pass emiss when running cold or running hot.

Welcome aboard.
The standards are based on the vehicle model and model year in most places. Having a truck longblock doesn't mean anything.
What Crane cam are you using?
You really need to get the trouble codes. You don't need any fancy equipment, just read the FAQ's linked on the homepage for instructions and code meanings.

The Crane cam
Designed for cars with 305" HO and 350" engines that cruise above 2600 rpm, also good for 350" trucks with suitable cruise rpm.
Technical Notes: These are hydraulic flat tappet camshaft kits. The duration at .050 lift (intake/exhaust) is 204/214 degrees, and the valve lift is .423"/.446". Lobe centerline is 110. This camshaft kit is emission legal in all 50 states. This camshaft kit is designed and manufactured by Crane Cam Co.®. It contains one camshaft and 16 tappets.
Currently in my Iroc Z
Engine also has an added bore .30 and new flat head pistons with the cam also. Timing is a little off because we set it to the book specs and I have no idea how much higher to set it

The trouble code that is set will probably tell the underlying issue.
Get a paper clip, turn your key to the "On" position (without turning the car on), and put the paperclip in the A and B terminals. Watch how many times the check engine light blinks. It will blink once, pause, then blink twice a little faster, that will represent code 12. (one blink = 1, two blinks =2). It will do that 3 times, then it will show you the other code that is stored.
You can do this at any time, it takes no special skill or tool, just a paper clip
Come back with the code and we can help
