Gas Smell

I notice that sometimes if I had been excellerating pretty good down the highway and I stop somewhere and get out I can smell gas fumes. Is this normal? Is my my exhuast too rich, or could it be something else?

What year, engine, and modifications (if any) do you have? A carbed engine will somtimes eminate fuel vapor when shut off after a hot run, but an injected engine shouldn't do that since the fuel is cut off at the same time as the ignition. All fuel vapor is generally trapped in chambers or burned in the hot exhaust. It is possible that you are smelling vapor from the EVAP canister being saturated.

It's a 92 TBI 5.0 camaro rs. I also notice I get downright despicable gas milage, and I don't have any mods (save the K&N). But I guess that kinda comes with our cars anyway
