clutch replacement
the clutch on my 85 iroc is slipping badly
ive checked the entire assembly down to the bell housing abd everything seems to be in order
the rear main seal leaks and from what i can tell is whats causing the clutch to slip (spraying oil on it)
so i need to replace the glazed clutch and rear main
would you people recomend trying to do it by dropping the tranny or would i be better off pulling motor and tranny and doing it all out of car?
any suggestions and/or past experience would be great

If you have the time and the place to do it, I would greatly suggest you pull the motor and trans instead of trying to do it all from under the car. It can be done (pulled the pan a couple of years ago to replace oil pump, timing gears), BUT since you are having to replace the rear seal, I'd pull it. While you have it out, an overhaul gasket set isn't very expensive and it would be a good idea to replace all the gaskets and even check the rod and main bearings.

the room aint a problem, thats what a 30x40 garage is for
i am leaning mkore towards pulling mkotor and tranny, and if i do itll get front and rear mains, and other various gaskets
valve seals since as usula it smokes a bit on startup
also thinking about valve springs, and roller rockers
possibly a cam also
all of which should emensly help the rpm capabilities since it runs to 6 making power now
will also get headers if it comes out, thats a garaunteed
just have to figure out cash availability
