Spark Plug Wire Question
So the other night I changed the plugs and wires on my car and I thought I hooked them up the same way I took them off but when I took it out for a test drive the car sounded good but under pretty much any acceration the performance was horrible... with very little actual acceration so I checked out the Chiltons manual and it said all the wires were hooked up to the wrong cylinders which I thought was odd... but I switched em around anyway So after that I tried to start the car and it cranks obviously enough but when it fires the engine makes a noise and just keeps cranking... If someone knows how to hook up the wires for an L03 (TBI 305) any help would be GREAT. Thanks in advance...

Thats how I have it hooked up I double checked it and I just tried starting again and it shot fuel out of the throttle body! (this time I tried it with the air cleaner assy off)

Crank the engine over by hand to #1 TDC, take the cap off and look where the rotor is pointing. The terminal it's pointing to is the #1 terminal, maybe the #6 if you don't get the firing stroke right.

moved them all one post to the right...got the same thing
moved them all one post to the left... and it almost seemed like the engine wanted to fire up...it didnt spit anything out of the throttle body...have I at least taken a step in the right direction?

To make sure you've got the firing stroke on #1, you can pull the #1 plug out and hold your finger over the hole as you crank it. If you feel compression while it nears the top, then you're on the firing stroke. If not, you're on the #6 firing stroke.

Right, take the other plugs out so that you're night fighting their compression while you turn the engine. You can either bump it over carefully with the starter, or you can turn it by hand.
