PVC and smoke

On my new engine I got a breather on my passenger side valvecover. And the stock PVC vavle ( going to the intake , lt1 intake ) on the driverside vavlecover.
When I take off the PVC vavle I see a slight amount of smoke coming out of the hole. Not much but its there, is that normal?

I can add, its thin white smoke..

the car dont eat any oil, and no smoke from tailpipe.

A slight amount of oil and water vapor is completely normal. That's the entire reason there is a PCV valve installed there.

Yeah it's only when it's a substantial amount of smoke, or it's actively PUFFING out, that it becomes a problem. (My car did that for a few thousand miles....now it's parked on the side of the house with cyl #3 dead!)

If you are using stock heads, did you plug up the EGR port in the intake or in the head? The LT1 intake doesn't quite cover the EGR on stock heads, so you'll need to either plug it or use a specific Fel-Pro gasket with the metal inserts.

Exhaust in the motor isn't good...

I would put a clear inline fuel filter on the PVC and see how fast you get accumulation in it.

I used this trick on my old turbo Talon (which didn't really use any oil either) and was amazed at how much oil it captured. Granted, that was a boosted application, but why not keep the intake clean?

HTH.

This has nothing to do with an EGR system.

Simply install a filter inline with the PCV hose...so cut the hose in the middle and install the filter.

The PVC draws crankcase vapors into the intake manifold (in conjunction with the breather on the other valve cover) to ensure that no excessive pressure builds up in the engine.

All I am suggesting is to filter the air coming from the PCV into the intake so it is clean...rather than oily vapor.

not to highjack this thread or anything, but i have almost the same problem.

i have dart ie pro 180 heads with the hsr manifold on my 350. i have a breather on the driver side and pvc going to the tb on the pass side. whenever the car is idling, i notice a verry small ammount of smoke comming out of the breather on the driver side. whenever i pull the tb to wot, the breather will start to smoke alot. im fearing it's blow by, but i have no idea how that can be. the rings are only 6k miles old, and at 3k, i had a compression test done which gave me 6 cyl with 180psi, 1 with 178psi and another with 175psi. whenever i take off the intake manifold, it's always got oil inside the manifold. thats why i put a breather on the driver side, i thought maybe it would help a little. thing is, my manifold also is at a slight off angle... it seals the top of the intake gasket fine, but it doesnt seal the bottom that well. i had to over torque it a little and use a mr gasket ultra seal gasket to stop it from sucking in oil through the lifter valley into the runners. u think this is blowby, or just air comming out of the runners and into the lifter valley causing the vapors to come up through the breather a little faster than it would? im kinda lost here... i need some advice. thanks guys
