2-bolt Main To 4-bolt Main Caps?

I was looking around the internet and ebay , and found that there are kits to convert your 2 bolt to a 4 bolt and it would be stronger than a stock 4 bolt main.

my question is, is it worth it? and how mouch would it cost to do this?

thanks!

Unless you want to go over 500hp on an otherwise stock block, you probably don't need it.

a 4bolt main is prolly way more then your going to need

and yeah you could prolly do it on your own but I would also be leary about it just because knowing my lcuk I would get too close tosomethig I shouldn't and make it weaker

Not unless you can mill the block, drill and tap the holes and align bore the new caps in your garage.

I'm still running a 2-bolt main well, not actually bolts anymore, ARP main stud kit.

Yes those "kits" make a block stronger than a factory 4-bolt main, by far. Factory 4-bolts aren't meant for racing. They are ineffective against that kind of stress. They're really meant for truck motors.... high load on the motor continuously, moderate RPMs.

If you're serious about the 500 HP business and it's not just a bunch of spank-off, and you want to strengthen your block, I would not recommend getting the cheap chinesium ones off of ebay. There are several USA mfrs that make a much more dependable product. For example http://store.summitracing.com/partde...rt=MIL%2D11150 Here's another thing that DRAMATICALLY stabilizes a stock block for racing type usage. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=HNH%2D860212
