Ever change a freeze plug with the motor in the car?

The block heater in the RS blew up, I'm spewing coolant faster than I can put it in.

Anyway, how do you remove and install a freeze plug?

This isn't a regular freeze plug however, it's got a block heater stuck in the middle of it..

Any ideas here?

There's no reason you can't change one in the car, as long as you can get to it. They even make those expandable rubber ones for situations where you can't get to it well enough to put a new one back in. I won't use one if I can help it, but it's better than no plug at all.

Which one is it?

It's right above the oil filter.

I have never done one in the car. I usually just yank the motor and change all of them if one goes.
But to change them I drive them in with a punch, hold them, grab a pair of channel-locks and pull them out.
I have heard that somepeople drill them and use a screw and slide hammer them out.

drive it in to the water jacket then get a pry bar or screw driver behind it and pop it out, it's pretty easy after you get the hang of it. if you don't have room for the pry bar a pair of vise grips will do the same thing.
