valves are not rotating with roller tip rocker arms

I believe on stock motors the valves should rotate keeping carbon from building up on the exhause valve seats. I have built my 350 and added new valves and comp cams roller tip rockers along with a larger cam, and the correct springs, but I have noticed my valves are not rotating. Should they rotate with foller tip arms? If not this wont cause any problems with carbon in the valve seats? Thanks

A lot of stock engines come with exhaust valve rotator's that take the place of the spring retainer, it's real thick and heavy so they are not used when you buy high performance springs and retainers, they just get tossed in the trash.

don't you think going up and down under XXX pounds of spring pressure would be enough to keep carbon from building up on the seats?

well thats what I would think if the motor was running clean anyway. I was wondering because I have seen the rotators on all the stock heads and thaught that they must be there for a reason.

well you're right the stock rotators are there for a reason, but in actual use they never worked for the intended reason. they did work very well at adding unneeded mass to the valve train while preforming no useful purpose.
