car is missing, saw sparks comming from the coil
last night i started my car, and everything was fine till i got her going. then i started to notice she'd start bogging whenever i would try to give her part throttle. when i'd step on her, she'd move, but it sounded like she was missing pretty bad. got home with the car on and i could see a spark comming out of the coil. it was comming out of the boot and hitting the metal frame that goes around the coil. what could cause this, and what do i need to do to fix it? get a new coil? the damn coil is like 3 months old lol. it's an msd blaster coil connected to an msd 6al box. thanks in advanced everyone

i thought so too. so i reversed the plug wire to see if it would start doing that on the dist instead of on the coil, but it still sparks right on the coil.

Check the coil and see if the tower or anywhere on it is cracked or broken...
If you have a spare stock one laying around or something it'd be worth a shot to swap it over and see what happens.
I never throw away old parts for a reason....you never know!

yeah... i had the stock one somewhere here but i can't seem to find it. i'm going to go get a new coil and see if that works. if it does, then i'll send this one back to msd, get a new one, and keep it somewhere i can find it later incase this coil goes too. i dunno how it would have cracked though... car never overheated, never dropped the thing, and never d*cked with it unless i was taking it out to change an intake gasket. weird.

Well dielectric grease will insulate it and might keep it from jumping spark everywhere.....but it doesn't solve the core problem that something is wrong.
