Throttle Sticking

Ok here is the problem

After about 10 or 15 minutes of driving my TransAm's RPM will idle at about 1100rpm. Another problem is its hard to hold the car still at red lights cuz its trying to pull ahead. Also the car climbs on its own. I haven't really checked anything yet however I am thinking that it could be the throttle cable giving me problems. For now because of this problem I have the car parked until I get some advice about this on how I should aproach it. I was thinking of getting some of that Throttle Body cleaner that is O2 sensor safe and spraying the crap outta the TB to see if that would clear up the problem. Another concern is...could it be my cruise control acting up? If so how would one disable cruise?

Any advice on this issue would be greatly apreciated

could be. I'd recommend cleaning everything, including the cable sleeve. My buick sticks, but only if I havent driven it in a while, and it's only on the first pedal push. I think it's just gunk in the sleeve.

May just need to lower the idle.

I've also found vacuum leaks to raise the idle, may wish to check that out...

Disconnect the throttle cable and cruse cable on the TB. Likely held on with little clips. Open the trottle by hand several times and see if it feels like it's binding or does not fully close. That would eliminate the TB. Pull on the accelerator cable while disconected and see if that feels free. Might need to have someone put light pressure on the gas pedal.

No problems found yet then hook up the accelerator cable but leave the cruse cable off to see if the problem is still there. Go for a little drive. Still got a problem then it isn't the cruse control.

I suspect a vacuum leak. Look over all your vac lines carefully for breaks/cracks and lose connections.
