L69 Guys, Part II

Are there two different styles of cats for the L69, one from 84-85 and another from 86 up? If so, is the first a 4-bolt front/rear design and the second a slip design?

What you just said is quite possible. The early HO cat was the 4 bolt that you talk about. The 85 TPI cars also had these. Whenever the TPI cars switched to the single 3" thats when the L69 would've too. And i do think that switch was 86. Still, 86 L69s are rare as poop, why does this matter?

I'm looking for a high-flow cat for an 84 HO set-up.

Did you look at the link to the Catco that I sent you?

There used to be a couple of people that serviced the turbo Buick market, which uses the same part; also Random Tech sells a 3" universal and an "adapter kit" that might work, but there's no pic on their home page; and SLP sells the flanges, which can be welded onto any cat. I have a Dynomax 15143 and the SLP flanges on my L69.

RB83L69,

Yes, I did take a look, many thanks for the part number. I noted the 15443 Dynomax as well (which is what prompted my quesion). May I ask why you chose to modify the Dynomax rather than to choose the Catco?

At the time I didn't know about the Catco; also the Dynomax has one of the highest measured flows of anything you can buy. And, the muffler shop a block from my house had it in stock, so I could look at it and decide if that's what I wanted or not. I've never actually seen the Catco one that I know of.

Does SLP have a website?
