Puddle in back seat

My dads 92 RS 3.1L For some reason has been gathering water/liquid in the back drives floor. He first noticed a stinch and then after it didn't go away looked for the cause.. Well He found it in the back drivers floor.... BUT WHERE IS IT COMING FROM. He sucked it up with a wetvac thingy. Then left a fan on it over night.. When he drove home from work the next night after drying it.. it was there again.. like an inch deep of liquid.

What type of tubing ot hoses lead to the back seat floor only? Couln't think of anything in the engine leaking without going to the front first.. any help guys.... PLease list ideas also.

well, this may be bad news.the fuel lines lead right along the driver's side floorboard. you may want to check on that.

Maybe rain got in an open window ? After you wetvaced it, surrounding wetness may have seeped back down to that low spot. Just guessing. I had a stench from the same spot. Turned out the mech must have left the driver window open during a storm. A newspaper under the floormat back there got wet and stayed wet. That was about 3 weeks ago. Just found it yesterday !

Does the car have t-tops? If so I'll bet the farm they are leaking. If it doesn't then I have no idea. There is no way for fuel to get into that area unless it magically goes through the floor pan, and no other fluids run in that area.

How cold does it get at night there? Are the windows really fogged up in the morning? If so, some moisture got in somehow and is condensing on you windows and collecting in the back seat - happened to me once, and it was annoying, but it cleaned my carpets

my hatch floor used to get wet from the bottom when it rained. Put a floormat down after drying the area. Next time it gets wet, see if the top of the floormat is wet too. If it isn't, it's coming from the bottow or seeping down from around the floormats. I guess you would've smelled fuel if it was that, I wasn't thinking too clearly.

I'd shoot the neighbors cat, hell, even if it's not the cat, you've eliminated one potential problem.

dopnt think it can seep in from the bottom. Enough might seep in to get the carpet wet but it wont have an inch of water in there cuz wherever it came in the floor at gravity will pull it right back out. not being sarcastic or anything just trying to help out. check your hatch seals...

I had a similar problem in an '84 Z-28. It went away on its own. The only thing I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is liquid from the a/c. After you turn the car off, you'll notice water(I guess condesation) drip to the ground. Some of that is probably making it's way down the floorpan or chassis somehow. That is just a guess, though.
