i was really looking into these mounts because i need new mounts and solids sounded like a plan to reduce torque loss, but my question is, are these good for my daily driven car? what are the pro's/con's? thanks

 

Most people would say to replace them with stock rubber or even poly. Solid i understand is way too uncomfortable for daily driving.

 

another piece of interesting info is a lot of times your motor will sit higher with newer mounts

black, hood is black primer and white (didnt get a chance to finish the body work and primer). why do u ask?

 

On an old Impala street car I had years ago I put a solid mount on the left side, and a regular mount on the right. It was a good compromise.

 

It'll raise the motor for the same reason new poly's raise the motors, the old ones are just flat worn out.

I dont think I'd recommend solids for a dialy driver, you get a lot of chasis vibration/feel through the steering wheel and car itself "feels" rougher. It took me some getting used to last year when I installed mine, at first I thought something was seriously wrong with the car, but after some buddies rode with me, they said their's were the same way with solids.

I liked my Poly mounts I used in the past and would recommend them, unless you hve alot of HP. The truck I race was built using Poly mounts for some *** awful reason and against my wishes, but it's not mine, anyways it dynoed at 555hp/505 tq and this thing wants to jump out of the engine bay with the crack of the throttle, we ended up fabbing a engine limiter so know the engine is rock soild again. 5/8" rod ends bolt to a bracket on the chasis and a big bracket we fabbed to bolt to all the accessory hols in the head to distribute the forces, works great and easy/low buck solution to buying/installing solid mounts that you really only need on race day. You could even make the limiter on a quick pin system so removel/installation takes seconds instead of 1 minute.

 

I've had the Moroso steel mounts on my 92 (upper, lower and transmission) for four years. You feel the engine/drivetrain vibration a little more, but for me, it's not unpleasant. I've run them on every Camaro, Nova and Chevelle I've had.
I've never seen them wear out or break, and they free up a little space around the bottom of the motor in a tight engine compartment.

was only on the road for about a month since the motor swap and hood im waiting for my tranny to come so i can throw it in. used to be a regular black RS 305 TBI with the power blister hood... drove it like that for about 8 months then the swap came... should be back on the road soon. what do u drive?

 

normally my TA, but its off the road until I get a chance to rebuild the rear

 

i had a poly dog bone in my fiero and I could tell a world of difference. *** I miss that car. I'd go with the polyurethane mounts.

Is there an easy way to change the mounts in our cars?

 

i have them on my car and have daily driven it for 2 1/2 years that way. i like them.

not really...especially if the motor is still in the car. i've only ever changed them with the motor out though....

 

mine is out, i am repainting the engiene bay and i was just giong to replace the motor mounts while it is out but i dont think i am now b/c it looks like a paint to get out.
