Wierd vibes...

I'm getting a strange vibration when I back down off the throttle at highway speeds. Seems to be there when I'm more coasting then not. Goes away as soon as I press down on the throttle a bit. You can feel what seems to be a harmonic vibration when going down a steep grade where the engine is basically at idle but you're still doing 65+. If this is an indication of comming problems I need to fix it ASAP before I deploy again.

hey, i have the same problem. I have an 82 camaro z28. is it like when your accel. it feels fine but as you slow to about 65 or 60 the whole car starts to shudder? I still cant figure it out accept that people say that the older cars just do that. they said that the trany could be out of balance, but i dont think thats it since its not consistant with acceleration. Im sorry i havent figure this one out either but if I do, ill post again.

Typically that is pinion bearings... can also be U-joints. It's not the kind of thing that means it's just about to die, it could go 100,000 more miles and just get slowly worse before it dies.

Try new U-joints first. While you have the driveshaft out, tighten the pinion nut if it's loose, see if that helps.
