OE car makers would likely round that up to 6.3, then, don't you think?

6.27624551 to be more exact..... Yes, they would round it up to 6.3L Just like they do with a 305 which is 4.99805452 or down in the case of a 350=5.7354724

FYI, you can plug "383 cubic inches in liters" into Google and get your answer...

to go from liters to cu in multiply the liter number by 61.0237441
to go from cu in to liter divide the cu in number by 61.0237441

but heres my question is the 5.0L mustang a 302 like the old ones or are they 305 like our thirdgens. it converts to 305 but did ford ever make a 305?

The 5.0L Mustangs are 302 c.i., 4" bore and 3" stroke. I have never heard of or seen a Ford 305, but I could be mistaken.
