Good deal on cranks?

Anyone know of a place with good prices on aftermarket cranks.

I had found a guy that was selling fordged stroker cranks for 300 bucks, but he can not get them anymore.

Anyone know of a good deal?

Kind of reminds me of Nigeria; people over there are used to the notion that when a freighter docks and a container unloads and it has Nike shoes in it, then you can buy Nikes. When they run out, you can't buy Nikes any more; until the next freighter docks that happens to have some. But maybe that next one will have nothing but Adidas in it, so that's what you can buy, until those run out in their turn. There's no such thing as "stocking" a store with a consistent product lineup.

All of that cheap chinesium crap is the same way. If you want that cheeeeep made in China crank, you'll just have to wait until the next freighter unloads a container of them. Meanwhile, you could consider buy something decent, instead of chasing after the cheeeeeepest thing you've ever heard of, let alone actually seen.

Geez man, lighten up.

Just asking a simple question, as some people are not wealthy, and need more budget minded solutions.

Well, when the next freighter from China docks with some of those cheeeeepies on it, then maybe that guy will have some more to sell.

That's just how third-world international trade works. As we see more and more stuff coming into our country from China (usually purchased by the same people that talk tough with the big lie about the "evil corporations" putting Americans out of work by sending their production offshore while they put their real vote that counts - their money - into the cheeeeep offshore goods), we'll all get more familiar with it. I just happen to have personal experience elsewhere already with that drill, so it's no surprise to me. I'm just passing along the reality of what to expect when you deal with the third world. Lie down with the dogs, get up with the fleas.

My advice obviously is, stay away from cheeeeep foreign junk; no matter how attractive the price. A cheeeeeep chinesium crank is a cheeeeeeep chinesium crank, no matter whether it comes off ebay, from your local shop, or the guy down on the corner. The cheeeeeepest possible chinesium crank, at an unheard-of and unmatchable low price, is certainly not something I'd use as the foundation for a multi-thousand $$$$ engine build-up.

We got the point, RB83L69.

You know, I never even mentioned a chinese crank, I just asked where I could find a good deal on a crank.

Is it so hard fro someone to say, hey look here, www.fill in the blank .com.

I bought my crank from them, and it was good, and got a good deal on it.

It doesn't have to be a chinese crank, just a crank.

Well, even Eagle and Scat get their entry-level product forgings from overseas; but at least they have a bit more control over their supply line than the absolute lowest-bidder would.

So if you're looking for a decent (even if not "the best") crank at a good price, check those brands. They're both widely available everywhere from the Jeg's & Summit & Thunder type places, to your local speed or machine shop, to ebay. Lots of people have had good results with them. Of course you'll hear horror stories about both, too; take both the good and bad reports only at face value. IIRC they're both available in the low $400 range.... IMO a small price differential to pay, for the HUGE reduction in overall risk.

Oh No!
RB is endorsing Scat now
The end is near!

Here are some online sellers who sell cranks. Sometimes they have sales. I've bought stuff from all of these sellers.

There are many other stores online that sell rotating assy parts, shop around and you'll find what you need I'm sure.

When buying a stroker crank, be sure to find out what bobweight that they're intended for. After buying a "cheap" crankshaft, many times people end up paying out big bucks in expensive mallory metal to get these things balanced for their piston/rod combination. In these cases you're better off (financially) buying a "slightly more expensive" crankshaft.
