Engine running rough...Literally....

Ok, I will try to desscribe as best as I can....

Monday on the way to work it was fine, ran strong as usual. Monday on the way home, it was really rough. Literally shook me to death. Didn't drive it Tuesday, drove this morning, and still shaking like a Mo Fo.

No odd noises, except at the moment of shake, the exhaust gets quiet. Almost sounds like a piston isn't firing. Similar to when I blew a head gasket, but no white steam out he tailpipe and no magically disappearing radiator fluid.

I thouhgt maybe transmission since I had the rebuilt a few months back, but even in Neutral it shakes the whole car. the shake gets real bad around 1100 rpm, I havn't gotten it past 2k since the problem started.

It has been 60k miles since the last tune-up, although I did put new plugs (Bosch Platinum+4) a year ago when I changed head gaskets. All fluids are fine.

I am thinking Tune-up (although last time I noticed a decrease in performance over time, not quick like this time)?? Fuel Injector?? Head Gasket??

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Start with the simple stuff. Cap, rotor, and possibly wires. Mine has a habit of vibrating the wires onto the exhaust manifolds, and burning thru. Ooops. Instant miss.

Could also possibly be a module, or pickup coil.

More info... Was just out driving at lunch and it threw code 45 (Rich O2 sensor)... hmmm.. Probably means something isn't firing and pushing gas into the exhaust.....

Ok, more interesting info... Drove it to work this morning, and everything is fine.. WTF???

Guess I will take this as a sign and do a tune-up.
