Timing / Surging Issues.
Hey
Recently installed the Holley stealth ram.
I put the distributor back in the original position - heres the catch.
It wont idle right at all at 6*BTDC. The idle surges quite a bit and stalled if I put it in gear and creep foward.
If I put the timing at 2* (after TDC?) which is 8 degrees retarded from where it should be. It idles/runs fine quite beter but still has a slight surge..
No vacuume leaks, adjusted the TPS and cleaned the IAC passage real good when it was off the car.
New IAC Valve.
I did this all with the timing advance (tan) wire taken off.
Fuel pressure is set to 50psi with the Vacuum line off.
Any ideas?

Only time I had a problem similiar to what you have is when I had a vacuum leak. I would double check for this because it really sounds like you have one.

I've never used a propane torch before, normally I use carb cleaner. Just spray it around the gasket area and listen for a surge.

Just confirmed no vacuum leaks.
Car pulls 19" at idle and I cant find any leaks.

19 sounds about right, normally if you have a vacuum leak it would be sitting around 15 (with a mild cam). With no leaks it would seem to be the TPS. You said you adjusted it though, I would double check this. I've had problems in the past with a TPS doing what you're describing. Are you throwing any codes?

I set the timing to 6*btdc and set the TPS to .64 volts and it idled a bit beter like it did when it was set at 2*atdc before.
No codes.
