what differance does it make waht oil i use? if you're going to run a oil based on a popularity contest i'd be looking else where for my info, like national sales figures, or even what oil sponsers the racing i like. i believe it's better to have oil and filter that are changed on a regular basis than a big name or high dollar oil that isn't.
i use pennzoil and mobil 1 for all my cars. trucks, and equipment.

i use mobil 1 and nothing else period because of performance it has given me in the past. pennzoil is one of the worst oils when it comes to sludge build up, but changing regularly combats that. mobil 1 will not sludge up period. no matter how long your intervals are between oil changes.

I went from valvoline durablend, to valvoline tri-synthetic, to mobil 1 tri-synthetic, and have been very happy with all of them. I think it makes the car run better, of maybe I'm just thinking it.

Ede got it right. Use a good brand and change it and a good quality filter every 3000 miles. I use wal-mart super-tech synthetic(quaker state) blend and baldwin filters for a very long time without any problems. A good filter makes a huge difference. The farmers around here can show you the difference in cheap filters when they run a deep well 24x7 for weeks at a time. Poor filters(fram for example) plug quickly allowing bad oil to return to the pan, sometimes the filter even breaks down and the filter element ends up in the pan.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

Over 175,000 miles with Mobil 1 5/30. Hardly burns any oil, no cloud of blue when I start up. You can pay a little more now, or pay a lot more later.

No regular brand of oil has ever stood up as well in my 30 years of driving.

read Mr Vaders reply to this thread, it contains a little more than an opinion or limited experience with his cars or his neighbors.
