engine combination
im planing on building a 355, forged je pistons, eagle h beam rods and 4340 forged steel crank. the compression ratio should be around 10.5:1. i plan to run a set of afr competition heads, and the edelbrock pro flow set up. i havent chosen and cam yet but is should be in the .500 lift range. so i know this is a weak description of an engine build does anyone know what the hp should be?

depending on what heads u go with, 195/210/220 or one of thier other set ups with CNC milling, i would say ur looking at atleast 425 at the crank. I dont know know what cam you should match with those heads, but someelse should, or you could search for the AFRs around the forum and look at what others are using, and what kind of power they got out of them IIRC i think i heard of ppl running the XE274 cam with the 195s on a similar compression.

I second the hydraulic roller cam but with fuel injection you dont want a whole lotta overlap. I dont know the specs of the previously mentioned cam but I would use a cam with these specs:
220/230 duration @ .050 lift
.550/.550 lift with 112 degree lobe seperation
This will give you 480 hp @ 6000RPM and 480 lbs ft of torque @ 4500RPM at the crank. 400 lbs ft of torque @ 2500RPM. Very streetable and with the right chassis and drivetrain setup you should beable to run high 11's.
