383 cam help

I currently have a 383 shortblock which consists of:
- 87+ GM 1 Piece RMS roller block
- Eagle 4340 3.75" crank
- Eagle 4340 6" H-Beam Rods
- SRP Forged flat top pistons (-5cc)
- 11.0:1 Compression ration with 64cc head
- King Allecular Bearings
- All ARP bolts
- Built by Dynoflo out of Nevada

I am planning on buying these heads:
- Canfield 23* Aluminum Head
- Fully CNC ported
- 220cc intake runner
- 65 Combution Chamber
- Lift good to .650

This motor will be fed through:
- 14" Air Cleaner
- 750cfm Speed Demon carb
- Edelbrock performer RPM intake manifold
- Holley 110 GPH fuel pump

The valvetrain will have:
- Crane hydrolic roller lifters
- Crane pro series pushrods
- Crane gold race 1.6 roller rockers
- Valve springs from Canfield good to .650 lift

Engine will be oiled / cooled by:
- Stef's 7quart aluminum oil pan
- Windage tray
- High volume oil pump
- Griffin 19" x 31" Radiator

The motor is planning on going into an '89 Camaro with a T-56 Transmission with 3.73 gears. The car is going to be intended steet use with occasional trips to the strip. Car is not the daily driver. I need help finding a hydrolic roller cam to match my setup.....

I was looking at:
- Crane Powermax hydrolic roller cam
- 296 / 304 duration
- 234 / 242 duration @ 50" lift
- .539" / .588" valve lift
- 112 LSA
- 3,000 to 6,500 RPM

Thats sounds like a pretty good cam with that set-up. That is crane cam 109841. Those cam numbers are for 1.5 rockers so if you put in 1.6 you will end up with about .570/.620 lift. You could goe with the crane cam 109831, which has a little less lift and a little les duration, but then use the 1.6 rockers to bumb up the lift and give you slightly but not much moe duration.

109831
-1.5 509/528 lift 222/230 duration
-1.6 540/559 lift

I would probably goe with thecam that you said you wanted, 109841, but with the 1.5 rockers, it will give you a little more power than the smaller cam with the 1.6 rockers.

That is a fairly mild cam for a 383, especially for those heads being 220cc. You might want to think a little higher. Something in the 240 duration for intake. If it is not going to be a daily driver than go with a single plane and a bigger cam. Say 246/252 cam.

And which cam best fits the 246/252 profile? Could anyone take a shot at what this motor will make, maybe use DD2000?

What do you guys think about comp cams Xtreme Roller XR288 in this car?

XR288:
- 288 int / 294 exh
- 234 int / 242 exh @ 050"
- 2,500 - 6,000 RPM
- .520" / .540" Lift with 1.5 Rockers
- 110 LSA

Would this be a better cam for my 383 application?

thats a little better for a street strip car, still too small for an all out drag car. also id go with the rpm air gap manifold.

Exactly. If you go with that cam, fine. Just be prepared to swap in a bigger one when you want more power or better et's.

I am going to use a cam close to that size in my 383 and it is going to be a daily driver.
