Highest speeds
well let see... my speedo is a KM at 185 km/h max ...I've been around the counter up to 65 km .... my gears are 2.73 and my engine has 300 hp. I don't know the acutal speed but f*ck my car was almost flying of the road and the wind seemed to be kinda noisy !!! I would say about 250 km/h

speaking of high speed blow-outs...
A while back I was in my buddies 89 RS going about 120 or so and the right rear tire decided it had enough. I was sitting in the back seat, right next to the tire that blew and it sounded like a bomb. We were lucky enough to have no traffic in all three lanes, which we swerved across. When we came to a stop we got out and saw that the whole tire was gone, along with all the ground effects behind the tire. It f'd up the car's paint all around the wheel well with little scratches and dents. After we gave thanks for being alive we TRIED to use the stupid inflateable spare (what a joke) and when we realized that it couldnt be done we called to tow truck.
the moral of this story is Dont go fast with crappy tires. Thirdgens look so much better when they arent smashed into guard rails.
that said I have had my car to around 115 or so(85mph speedo)...but with good tires.
peace

Been Pulled over at 110 on a S.F.Bay Area bridge. All of a sudden big, black Chevy Tahoe on my *** ,lights blazin.Made me throw my keys out the window and crawl out on hands & knees.Big spectacle for the afternoon commuters.Anyway, Highway Patrolman was older, and I admitted it was foolish, so after checking my record, he let me go!Limiter hasn't let me take 305 past 112,but new chip disables limiter. Will test for speed after new motor's broke-in.Oh, yeah, I had 3.08 Gears before, but changed to 3.73 last week.
Car feels rock solid at 100,Lowered quite a bit and lots of positive caster.

Like many people my top is 120. I always think i see a cop when im going that fast so i back off. But there is plenty left to go, maybe one day i will get some ***** and see how far i can push it. Even at 120 its still smooth as silk. I love my GTA.

The fastest ive been up to is a rpm-gear calculated 167mph with still more left ( i had to let off because of traffic, and the fact that I had two other peoples lives in my hands). That was with the old motor with the small cam and 3.45's. Im sure with the bigger cam I could of passed up 170 with ease(never got around to try it). With the low hp motor and 4.10's i have now I am gear limited to about 150-155, and I do it all the time. Got to love the open highways of Texas.

Fastest I ever got to was 125. I always think the white car about a mile up is a cop. I have been right twice. Good thing I don't I don't do it all the time.

How about 206 mph on the road from Elko to Wild horse NV. in a 89 camaro. The road is 51.6 miles long and was ran in 17:06.724 @ 180.925 mph. This was the Radar speeds on the three traps set up that day 1) 206mph 2) 201mph 3) 201mph

Well, let's see... this acquaintance of mine see, he took my last GTA for a spin on the highway, hit 140 or so and the windows pulled out and shattered. Needless to say my acquaintance has not tried that speed in the current GTA, however, we had a road 'closed' in town, small side street probably 1 1/2 - 2 mi. long, 113 mph. That was a bigger rush than the 140 spin.

a few years ago, i was doing about 130(the needle was buried)in my 68 chevelle, and i passed a guy who was doing probably 65, he decided he wanted to try an' catch me. we were on the freeway going through town and there was apparently a cop on one of the surface streets below, cause some friends who were a few miles behind, told me they saw him getting pulled over.
was that any one of you guys?

I hit about 130 something before I had to let off to catch my exit. 4 am and no cars in sight. Think I only passed 3 cars in a 20 min drive.
