Any particular reason you aren't buying a replacement harmonic damper bolt instead of going to the hardware store?

ede is correct (no surprize there). Lucky for you, Chevy used a 7/16-20 bolt in the crank snout. You can retap the hole to a standard 1/2-20 and install a 1/2-20 Grade 5 or better bolt (available at almost any good hardware store).

While you're at the hardware store, try to get a 5-6" length of threaded rod and a couple of mating nuts to pull the balancer back on. Don't use the bolt to pull the balancer hub back on, or you won't be so lucky next time.
