9 years with out starting
After 9 years I want to drive my gta again. My 88 GTA L98 auto has been sitting inside without being started. I know I will have to do a lot of work. Change all fluids and flush everthing.
drain the tank, new injectors. new batterey What else should i do?

Check your rubber parts.... seals, hoses, etc. After sitting that long, they can dry out and crack.

Good advice here. Dont overlook the brake hoses either. 9 years is quite a while. Be safe.

I guess I should pull the plugs and spray some wd40 in the cylinders. also if I get it running well enough the tires have to go

Injectors? No. Wait until it gets running.
A new fuel filter? Definitely. And drain all the fuel you can, then fill with the lowest octane gasoline you can get. The higher volatility and solvent power of the low octane may help dilute some of the leftover fuel. Be prepared to change teh fuel filter more than once.
Tires? Maybe. My '86 is still running on the original Eagle ZR50 tires in front at 49,000 miles. As long as they are not rotted, they might be O.K. to start out with.
Wait to flush the cooling system until the engine is running and warm.
Don't forget a new air filter, and inspect the intake tract for "visitors".
Good luck. We're here for you.

good idea.. i had a amx that was sitting outside for 10 years so i sprayed liquid wrench in all the spark plug holes, turned the engine by hand a few times than cranked it a few times w/ the coil wire off.. it loosened up real good. after a new set of plugs & fresh gas it started right up.. the only thing besides the obvious oil and coolant change i had to do is rebuild the carb because the gas was all varnished inside it

When you get it started put it in neutral. Do not let it engage in reverse, go straight to neutral( do not pass go, do not colect 200 dollars....LOL). All the clutches are dry and if it engages in any gear it will burn them out. With it in neutral it will circulate the fluid and get the clutches back to normal. This is very important. You will not make it 10 miles.

Park will not circulate the fluids as well as neutral will. I never concidered starting it in neutral. That would make more since.

I would bleed all the old brake fluid out, just like you would if replaced a caliper or rear wheel cylinder. The fluid after that long will be rusty and nasty.
