I have a TBI 305 and was wondering the in's and out's of seting the base timing. What should it be set to? How hard is it on a scale of 1-10? Thanks for the help, any pics of the process would be appricated.

just unplug the est and set the timing like you would on anything else ,make sure you plug the est back in when you're done.

Which wire is the est wire and what should the timing be set at? I no longer have any of the stickers to tell me were the timing should be set to. Do I start the car then unplug the est wire or do I unplug the wire before I start the car or does it even matter? How can I clean the marks I am suppose to be reading and do they have numbers on them such as 0-5-10 degrees?

The wire you are looking for is brown in color and is located in the bundle of wires near(above)the blower motor. I unplug the brown wire before starting the car, you will get a service light. I believe your base timing should be at 6 degrees. To clean your timing marker, use you finger or something. I think 6 degrees is the valley after the largest mark, I could be wrong.

Base timing for a 305 TBI should be 0*. Sounds funny, but the prom will move it to something more useful once the est is plugged back in.
Some people move the base timing to a few degrees advanced, if they need it.

Transmission: Still works
Axle/Gears: need 3.73
Once timing is set and the est is plug together, disconnect the battey for a few seconds to erase the code set by disconnecting the est.

Thanks for the help, my est wire was cramed behind the wiring harness in front of the heater box where I could not see it. Set timing and the car runs much smoother at idle.
