Question about "Iron Duke" 4 Cylinder Firebird

Since there really is no L4 subforum on this site I'll just ask here. A friend of mine actully found a '85 Iron Duke here on Long Island, unfortunatly the guy who is selling it knows **** about it... What induction system do these cars use? Carbed? Are they computer controlled? Any extreme things that are needed to know about the car like defective parts or anything?

BTW, he is asking $400 for it and it runs good supposibly.

Thanks

These motors are hard to kill.

Mine just turned over 125K miles.

they are terribly slow and underpowered for the fbody but hey...pretty decent gas mileage if the motor is tuned up properly.

My Dad's 83 originally came with the 4 banger duke. It had a computer controlled carb.

I don't know that actual amount. I've never caculated it. I have a 5 speed and I would guess I could get approx 20-30 mpg. Im no expert so don't quote me on that.

I'd like to know what the factory rated them.
