Another Smog removal Question....

Hey guys, I am getting ready to remove my smog pump, and all that goes with it as my next project, probably next weekend. I noticed that on each side of the car, there are those metal tubes that go to the exhaust manifolds they have ( on each side of the car) a black hose (about the size of a heater hose) that go behind the motor (by the firewall). What is the easiest way to get these off? Where do they go to behind there? I cant see them. Also, is the AC compressor and the smog pump both bolted to the same bracket? When I remove the pump itself, will it cause any problems with the Compressor? Any helpful advice or tips with this project would be appreciated, since I really need my car, and can't afford to tie it up more than a weekend
Thanks dudes!!
Mike

Alright here goes. The hose that is on the drivers air tubes raps around the back of the enginge to the black box behind the ac compressor. that can just be yanked out. The air tubes can also be removed and plugged with 1/4" npt. The tube that leads down to the cat can just be plugged with 1/2" pipe cap. The pump itself is not attached to anything but a bracket. It is a T-45 I think to take that out. You will also need a 10mm socket to take everything else off. The plugs that are going into that black box I just tucked next to the throttle body out of the way of everything. You will also need a shorter belt for your car. I needed the 935K6 from Dayco. Or the 968K6. I have underdrive pulleys so that is why I need the smaller belt. I think that is everything that you need to know any other questions just ask.

DrkHrse89, thanks for the help man! That sounds like it isn't to hard. So the hose from the drivers side air tubes is the same on that goes to the black box on the passenger side! I didn't know that. I thought it was two seperate hoses going into something behind the engine. My cat was removed, and before I removed it, (where the tube from the smog pump went to it), (it was pinched off) and I do not see any other hose that would have went to it. Well I guess that is better for me, (less for me to remove) . I notice that when I start my car in the morning, or whenever it is cold, I here a putting sound coming from the passenger side of the car (sounds like around the smog pump). But after a few minutes and I rev the motor it s gone. I am hoping this is my pump. Maybe since it is still attached to my belt and turning, it makes noise. Sorry for the long winded posts! I just want to be able to do the job, without running into any probs.
Thanks a million man!!!!
Mike
