Water in my engine, for a LONGGG TIME! Help!!!
Haven't been on the boards in awhile, finished up college. I knew water got in my engine a couple of years ago, alot of it, thought my car cover was water proof, to my dismay it wasn't! Figured the engine was toast. Pulled it today and took the oil pan off, no rust at all on anything. Took the heads off and the same. There was about a gallon of water in there but it was never run with the water inside of it. Anyways, how do I go about cleaning all that milkshake out of all the rotateing assembly? I was thinking about taking everything out piece by piece and cleaning it with some sort of cleaner and reinstalling them with engine lube, pistons, rods, bearings, crank, etc. What cleaner would you recommend, and is this the way you'd recommend to do it? There is just a ton of gunk on everything.

I'd take some degreaser and a pocket full of quarters to the carwash.
Might want to fashion up a stand with a screen on it for smaller parts.
