Tires

Sorry, but I didnt know where else to put this post.

Anyways, I need new tires big time, and I am not sure what to get.

I live in Southeast Michigan, so I get plenty of rain, snow, and some sun. I have 15" Rims (91 RS) and right now I got 215/65R15's. The size is fine...

What model and from who would you all recomend? anyinput would be great!

Buck,

Get something with a Hummer attached. You're going to get plenty of lake effect snow this year, and 'F' cars aren't the greatest for winter traction.

If you are planning on driving it this winter, get the narrowest tire possible for your wheels. Uniroyal Tiger Paw all-weather radials are a softer rubber compound that provides very good wet traction and has a good ice traction rating. You might want to consider a set of snow wheels with plastic covers and save your good wheels for next spring.

It's coming sooner than you may think. I've already seen two evenings of light snow flurries s this year (northern Wisconsin - last weekend) and it won't be long until it begins to stick.

if your going for just a winter tire i'd pick up some blizzaks. i've got a set for my 2wd s10 and they are awsome. but if your going for all year round i'd say goodyear eagle rsa (don't use the cheap rh or gtII) or bf goodrich radial or touring ta. either are fairly decent in the snow.

A nice brand new BFG Radial TA will probably do OK, but if you must drive in snow often you should probably get some good winter tires on some crappy rims.

I drove my Bird in a Houghton, MI winter for a year with Cooper Wintermaster (I think) with great results.

Go to a junkyard and buy a cheap set of 15x7 steel wheels in a 5 hole 4.75 bolt pattern. Toss skinny snow tires on them and use them in the winter.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

Get some cooper tires, they have great traction and are priced very well too. I have Cooper Cobras on my Z/28 and on a lowered GMC p/u that I drive in the rain & snow, the grip very well. In all honesty though nothing is going to compare to a 4X4 with all-terrain tires on it, but that is not what you expect out of a camaro is it?

I know this not be popular thinking but I run my car over 600 miles a week winter and summer. On the other side of Michigan (S.W.) can you say "lake effect snow?" I use 245/60 15's year round on my cross lace wheels. Got them from Pep Boys. I believe they are Futura GLS tires. About $78 each. no problems in the winter, although I do put 2 70lb tubes of sand in the back. Do what your comfortable with, and what your budget will stand.

That's 2 - 70 pound tubes of sand.
