Tpi Wont Run

I did a search but could not find an exact answer.
89 GTA 350 Vortec. I just put the motor in and I am experiencing a no run problem. Timming is dead on and car fires right up, but will not stay running. TPS and IAC are fine and within range car will not stay running. Please help!! Thanks in advance.

That sounds like its a tricky one, i dont run a computer so i wont be alot of help but sounds like the computers not getting a reading from something and shutting you down. is the oil pressure sender functioning correctly?

also, the car seems to heat up real quick...it will stay running if I keep my foot on the gas.....but stumbles between idle and 3000rpm.

did you make sure to bleed any air out of the cooling system while you filled it?? if not it could be causing it to not circulate water and heating up a few of the jugs...

how long does it run before it shuts down???

I havent had it running long enough to even bring the cooling system under pressure. It cranks turns over and immediately dies. It will only stay running if I give it half throttle.

while I give it half throttle my oil presssure is up and I watch the temp gauge rise, but I never let it go past 220. also I am running headers which could influence the sender.

I'm starting to suspect that the distributor could be off a tooth, I'm going to pull it and re-drop it again tommorow

redroped distributor and I'm sure everything is timed correctly. I noticed that the car seems to have low oil pressure at idle. Could this be my start and dies problem??

Sound like a fuel related issue to me.

Fuel pressure is good, checked with a gauge. However, I unpluged the maf and it starts right up and stays running. I dont think its the MAF, I think it may be a plennum gasket leak. I bought new gaskets for the plennum and runners from TPi and will install them tommorow.

Got it! The Plennum and runner gaskets were not sealing properly, I replaced them and the car started right up, no problems at all. Thanks.
