where do I start on a stock 305 tpi

I have a 91 formula WS6 with a stock 305 tpi. I am about to put headers on. What are the mods I should do to increase the engine's performance. I want a fast, streetable daily driver, not a race car.

PLEASE DON'T REPLY IF ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY IS DROP IN A 350.

I'm not sure how far in depth you want to go but here goes nothing:

1) Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator
2) Aftermarket intake runners
3) Port the intake
4) Either modify the stock heads with a port and polish or get new heads
5) Cam
6) Either get a custom chip burnt or get an aftermarket chip. A custom burnt chip is better if the person lives close to you.
7) Get those headers coated to reduce under hood heat
8) Larger injectors might be an idea if you get a lot of the above done, especially if you get more air into the system. If you get more air and not enough fuel you'll run it lean and that is bad.

That should be enough for now since you didn't want your car to be extreme.

Camshaft is one of the best bang for buck.
then headers and new heads (for bigger valves and flow #s to compliment the cam)
at that point its time to get a new chip to tune everything properly and you should have somewhere around 1HP pre cube.

if you arent satisfied at that point there are a couple of ways to go. keeping the long tube setup to this point should make the car extremly streetable and fuel efficient. for drag purposes you could keep the long tube setup and buy aftermarket stuff for probably 50 more horses but the setup will be wasted on a 305. you could spend even more dough for the super or mini ram but these wont outperform a long tube setup without some SERIOUS headwork which would make the car unstreetable.

the last option after just a cam and head swap is spray or a blower. if you go to the trouble of camming and putting new heads on a 305 and still arent satisfied with it I would go with a procharger and be done with it. at that point you would almost certainly be pushing 450-500HP and out of a long tube setup to boot. it would be streetable and would give reliable performance for awhile.

Thanks,

I got the headers on Ebay from a guy who used them on his car on a dyno and a few days later had to sell the car. He had them coated--Alum-kote. Is this the kind of coating you are talking about to reduce underhood temperature?

I am getting a K&N filter in a couple days.

Thanks for the help
