Help with Vette motor cam I.D.

I am freshing up a 1991 L98 from a vette for my 1991 Z/28. Here are the #'s off the cam on the shaft just behind where the gear bolts on.

773.CPC.BC.11

Can anybody I.D. this as a stock L98 cam. or something different. Thanks!............ the old guy.

OK, I did a search after the fact, and found that the 773 # is the most important, and that all SD TPI motors used them............ so it is a stock L98 cam. I did however see several different final #'s (mine was 11) on 773 cams pulled from other members SD motors. A production run maybe?

Just note for "searchers" My Vette L98 has flat top pistons.

how much of a difference is there really between the vette and thirdgen engine?

also isn't there another name that is the true correct name for the 350 that is used in the thirdgen rather then l98?

As far as the difference between Vette and F-body goes ........... it's the heads. F-body has iron, 87 and up Vette has alum. Vette heads also have smaller combustion chambers for higher compression ratio, angled spark plugs, and a better flowing "D" shaped exhaust runner. The block and crank are the same.... 2 bolt main, cast crank. As evidenced by this post the cams are the same too. The only other variable is whether the pistons are flat top or have a dish in them. This fact is some what disputed........... I did a post on this a while back, and members have opened up their F-body 5.7 motors to find either one. This is the first Vette motor I have dealt with and it has flat tops. I think the dish lowers the CR by about 3/4 of a point. I had a Z/28 with a new L98 crate short block in it, and it had dish pistons. All that said, and speaking only of TPI motors, all 5.7's in Vette and F-body are L98's. F-body cars also had 5.0 motors that the Vettes didn't. They are LB9.

As always these are the facts as I understand them to be............. but I have been wrong before
