Question about L98 Vette heads

I have recintly refigured my motor budget and can not afford the AFR 190's. My question is will these L98 bolt directly on to (without any valve schroding) to my 89 305? Thanks

Well, does your budget allow for a 350? I dont know what you were planing, whether it be a full rebuild or just a freshing.

Yes, sort of. You will have to get a hole drilled and tapped into the front passenger side for the AC accessory bracket. Don't forget to do this before you put the heads on the car like I did. It's the hole closest to the intake, it is off by about an inch. Also you will have trouble with the EGR, as corvettes route it differently. I don't know how to set it up. I just eliminated it alltogether on my car. And the center bolts to the intake are designed for the older style intake (86 and earlier) so you will have to get the holes on your intake elongated. One more thing, the vette heads have a D shaped raised exhaust port so you might have trouble with your manifolds/headers sealing.

ok COOL SO I KNOW WHAT THEY WILL FIT. But I do not have to drill a hole for the A/C braket for my car is a 89 with A/C. I know this because I was going to order AFR 190 heads but $$$$$ and they said that i would not need the A/C tapped because my car doesn't have one. Cool thanks a lot!!!!

On a serpentine setup, the bracket bolts to the heads and the engine. If you have that bracket, AC or not, you'll need to drill and tap the hole.

Yeah, about the AC accessory hole... if you have a serpentine setup you do need it. I thought I wouldn't need it either. But now I can vouch for this since I just spent last sunday drilling, tapping, and helicoiling a hole into the side of my vette head with the heads on the engine and the engine in the car, cursing myself the whole time for not having done it earlier.

If you have any fabrication/machine shop skill and access to equipment here's another option. I deleted the a/c and smog pump on my car. Cut the alt mount off the power steering brkt and deleted it. I then made an alt mount for the passenger side that mounts where the a/c was. I wish that I knew how to post a pic. It got rid of a lot of weight and gave a lot more working room around the engine. It has an adjustable rod end lingage for belt tension. No big deal just another day at work solving the engineers problems from a mechanic's point of view.
