?'s about re-torqueing heads

1) do the heads need to be retorqued after so many miles after a rebuild (and would thread sealer be affected?)

2) can they be retorqued with the headers on and if so, how?

seems to me that header tubes are in the way for the outer bolts, but wondered what methods are used to work around that issue. i'm thinking headers need to come off to retorque...

I haven't retorqued a head in years.

Like 22 years.

I wouldn't do it now because now I use Teflon sealant on the threads, and retorquing would disturb that sealant.

It generally isn't required.

1.I'm a believer in retourqing aluminum heads, after about 5 heating/cooling cycles.I'm with fiveseven, shouldn't need to with iron heads and quality gaskets.
2.I'm not going to say they can't be,but I'd sure like to see how you'd ever retourque them without dropping the headers back.
