What's your favorite thirdgen?

I've always been curious what the most popular thirdgen. is. I love my 87' TA but it's a toss up between a 92 firehawk and an 89 TTA for my favorite. If you could build take your favorite thirdgen, add any engine trans etc. What car would it be and what engine?

It's related because he adds, if you could add any motor/trans. Personally I like the looks of Camaros over the T/As. But I would take TTA over any stock 3rd gen.

If i had the money, it would be an LS1, just because that would be cool to say i had, but expensive to mod

I like the looks of the Camaros better than the Firebirds, and I like the IROCs best of the Camaros!

My favorite thirdgen would probably be the 92 Firehawk Vert' Trans Am. The only stock combination I'd take over that would be if that Firehawk was a t-top model instead of a convertible. It could stay red too. Dream combination is probably something I'll be building for the rest of my life, lol. One car (91 Firebird, hardtop) will be a 427 small block fed by a custom dual throttle body injection with an Offy manifold, all of which will be polished, and will be backed by a 6 speed. That will probably be my second project. I am working on my first one right now. Just getting started actually. 91 Firebird with t-tops- plan on going with a beefed up LS6 block and intake (ZO6), gale banks twin turboed, backed by a beefed up 4L80e, and either a Moser 12 bolt or a 9". Totally custom interior, etc, etc, etc. Hey, a guy can dream right? lol

84 Z-28 T-Tops. I like the front clip a little better, the L69 engine with 5 speed and 3.73 rear end is aweful tough. Smokey gray exterior, blue and black interior...wood panelling inside. Power everything, very sweet ride indeed. Not to mention that it is an "Older" style motor and is much more simple to play with.

I've also been told that was the first year where the dash board was bevelled instead of flat, which I like.

I also understand that it was the last year where a blue interior was available.

No disrespect to any of the others, but I personally like the 82 to 84 body style and the 84 is a little nicer (IMHO) than the previous years. They changed in 85.

Considering I dont have a budget, Id buy IROCThe5.7's Camaro. Then put in a LS1 engine with the 6 speed tranny. All K&N filters with true dual exhaust. 3inch pipes with Flowmaster 40 series mufflers with straight pipes in the place of cats. Yokohama tires for better traction with 4.11 rearend gears with Eaton posi. 1/3/4 inch SLP headers.

Put in black accents in the interior, like Black armrests and other stuff making it grey and black. Momo steering wheel. Ohhh *** I must stop now.

91 or 92 firebird with a either a 427 big block or a 455. Of course that 8.3L V-10 that's going in the new Viper would be pretty nice, too.

back in 89/90 or so chevrolet developed a car i loved.gm new the iroc would be phased out in 91,so they had the engineers build a replacement.body lines were essentially unchanged ground fx looked like a cross between the gta and the real iroc race cars.as for the drivetrain it was a 4.3 twin turbo/fuel injected engine capable of pushing the car to a top speed of 206 mph.it was called the "IROC II".rest of the setup included a stout 700r4 tranny,a dana 44 rear with 3.55's,and the 1le suspension.i had the article write up avery long time, but 3 countries(and 5 years of military service) later who knows where it is now.alas chevy decided not to make it,instead designed a whole new car(4th gen).since chevy's last venture into the turbocharged world(corvair)was a disaster they let pontiac have all the fun.DAMN those chevy big wigs.COULDA,SHOULDA,WOULDA,BUT DIDN'T.it's the same ol' story.

I'd have to agree with IROCThe5.7L, but I might be a little biased.

at first i figured what the hell no one was replying to this thread then it took off. since it isn't really tech and not many people really care what someone else thinks it's getting locked.
