there is a black cylinder looking thing sitting on the drivers side, "battery space", same spot where battery sits on the passenger side.
its black and says Fuel Tank on the middle one, PCV on one side, and Carb Bowl on the other end, the only hose is in the middle to the Fuel Tank.
also the car used to be fuel injected, and im trying to clean up wires that are not used in the engine bay, so this may have been for FI, but not im carbureted.
can anyone help with what this is, i will post pics if needed.

i went to v6 fi to v8 carb and i tosse the canister, u dont need it for carb if u have EGR, keep the pcv in valve cover

I have recently tossed my EEC and jetted alot leaner to keep a/f correct and noticed a bit better gas mileage.
i can toss the canister then, and what is EGR?
the hose from fuel tank on the canister goes form a rubber hose to a steel line along the engine bay, what do i do with that?

I just let my line dangle in the fender for now.
As for EGR if you have it you will see a big ugly thing sticking out of your intake on the passenger side just below and to the rear of the carb. It recircs exhaust for faster warmups in winter and whatnot. That has also been junked on mine since i went to an edelbrock intake.

well i have an edelbrock air gap intake and i put it on, and there was no big hose going to the back of the carburetor. only hoses on the intake were brake booster, and heater hose.
