Pros...

No chain stretch.

No chain break.

No chain slack.

Dead accurate valve timing through entire RPM range regardless if your on the throttle or not.

Cons...

Noise.

I've heard *don't have any direct experience* that the vibrations carried over from the crank to the cam can cause premature lifter/lobe wear, but could be an old wive's tale.

Another con:

you're out the decently hefty price for the gear set whereas a chain would be more than likely sufficient.

Yea. I was gonna mention that, but a "good" chain and a "cheap" gear set are pretty close in price.

But if you're comparing "good" to "good" then

Expect to spend 3-4 times as much.

gears are way more $25 for a dr chain, at least $125 for the cheap gears.

i have the dynagear drive set, very very whiny.

you can get most in both loud and quit sets, these didnt say when i got them. you can also find straight cut [90%] or helicut.

i wouldnt buy another set , but these should last 10 years anyway.

one thing i have been told is that they can screw with the knock sensor. i have notice at very low idles [500 rpm+/-] that you can hear a grumble from the gears.

i am doing a tpi swap and am not sure whats going to happen. i dont want to swap them out.
