car cutting out while driving
this morning i noticed a real rough idle (400ish rpm) then while driving i would lose all power for short spurts at a time. and it would actually die while driving and if i would try to feather the throttle when its hesitating, it would backfire through the intake! what is going on? im thinking fuel filter is real bad or worst case scenario.. fuel pump
i unplugged the maf that didnt cause much difference, i got no codes. help me, thanks!

Since it is backfiring, there is probably still some spark. Whether teh timing is correct or not is a question. Spark scatter from a dirty/worn distributor, distributor cap, rotor, or weak secondary wire insulation can cause that.
The problem may also be due to lean mixture. A quick fuel pressure test might be revealing.

well i believe the problem was with my ground for the ignition box, i re-ground it and its running good again, i think the backfire could have been from the unburnt fuel adding up in the exhaust since i would lose spark and once it finally did, it lit my whole exhaust up? lol
