Will Edelbrock TES headers 1 5/8" work for a 350?
Will Edelbrock TES headers 1 5/8" work for a 350?
I am in the process of dropping a 350 motor into my car, I bought the edelbock tes headers for my 305 last year and had them HPC coated which cost me alot.. will these headers work okay on my new engine? i dont want to see these go since I spent so much on them, what you guys think? also if you could read my question under the TBI board, I really need help on that one.. thanks guys.. any input is great

In my opinion they will be fine. I'm in the same situation as you and that's what I'm using on my 350.

How much power do you plan on making? 400 hp or less? I'd say the edelbrocks aren't taking more than ~5-10 hp("conservative" probably more like less than 5hp) at your power level vs. a 1 3/4" shortie header. Did you cut/grind out the AIR tubes where they enter into the primaries by any chance? I'd recommend that (it's easy ~1 hr work)and believe there is a difference to be found.

Yeah, they will work. But if you want to make big power at some point in the future, spend the extra $$$ on the SLP 1 3/4" shorties - OR, if you have a lot of money, go with the Hooker Super Competition 1 3/4" full length headers and the Mufflex Y-pipe... If you go with that setup, you will never have to upgrade your headers.... You will have to find a way to get a cat on the Hooker full length setup, or dodge the emissions testing if you have to get tested where you live.....
As for prices; I think the Edelbrock TES goes for around $400 coated, the SLP 1 3/4"s for $480 uncoated (stainless steel), and the Hooker Super Comps with the Mufflex Y-pipe will run you $880 for coated headers and aluminized Y-pipe. If you are going to get regular steel headers, get them coated.... you will not regret it......
Keep in mind that the TES actually has primaries that are closer to 1 1/2".........
I am running the TES on my 355. I am having decent results but I ported them out a bit where they meet the heads to somewhat match the exhaust ports on my Trick Flow heads. I also removed and ground out the A.I.R. tubes and welded the holes shut. I do plan on upgrading to the Hooker Super Competition full length headers this spring......

They also work "OK" on my car. I originally planned on putting them on the LG4 but ended up using them on the 350 anyway.
