383 cranking too long before firing..
just got my new 383 running....wow, what a difference from the old stock 305. The only thing that bothers me is how long this motor cranks until it fires.
I replaced everything when installing this motor. All sensors, a new mini starter, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and all new gaskets.
I did bypass the water from going through the throttle body, As suggested by some guys on this site. It seems like the cranking problem is worse when the motor is up to temp..it fires quicker when cold.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

What were you in Reading for...NHRA race at Maple grove??
Timing brings up another question. I had a new prom chip burnt for my computer and set my timing at 8 degrees b.t.d. with the EST plug un plugged.
I just checked the timing to make sure it hadn't moved, which it had not, and then when i plugged the EST plug back in i was curious what the timing had changed to....it was still at 8 degrees btd??? Shouldn't it have moved a couple degrees???

You can't really change motors without tuning it. Just isn't gonna happen.
