My baby is doggin'...what gives?

Lately my car is not pulling as best she can. I know my car, this is not in my mind, it is not drastic...but nonetheless noticable. I get no SES readings at all, and I replaced all the little things...plugs, wires, rotor, cap, coil, oil, filters, freeze, even a new cat!!!and still...the car will get high into gear and its almost as if the engine slows down (which led me to think "limp home"). To explain in an odd way...i will take off say at a light and the acceleration will be somewhat normal 12345 6 7 8 9 10 11. then she spreads out like that. Now please no jokes about my 305 horsemill, it happens so quick...I even filled my tires thinking i was dragging a bit, but no. Could it possibly be the timing? or how about this...alternator? Btw, I have a 91 305 tbi. Thanks in advance.

The main culprit for your car going so slow is... your foot!

RS,

If you get no MIL lamp, you might still have some error codes (DTCs). Scan the ECM just for grins.

You should also check the timing. Make sure the EST is bypassed, then check the timing with the EST reconnected. There should be a significant increase in advance with the EST connected. If not, you may have a problem with the ESC or knock sensor.

Check all the vacuum hoses (including the EGR and brake booster) for damage and leakage. Test fuel pressure. Check cylinder compression.

Have you replaced the oxygen sensor within the last 30,00 miles?

Another possibility is that you have a bad load of fuel.
