won't go....bogs down
won't go....bogs down
I have a problem. Whenever I get on the gas, half to full throttle, from a stop or rolling slowly the car won't go. It just bogs down. I've got a new carb, and the choke isn't sticking. Does anyone know what is wrong? It's only when I'm stopped or slowly moving. I don't have vacuum advance, could that be the problem. Or is the carb too big and putting in to much gas. It keeps getting worse the more I drive it. What can I do? Is there something wrong with the my timing? PLEASE HELP

Bog = lean. Whatever the problem is, it isn't too much gas.
If this is a vacuum secondary carb, get a "trick kit" which is an assortment of springs for the secondary diaphragm; try the black one first, if it works try the brown one, then go back to the black one if it bogs with the brown one.
Lack of vacuum advance will not make the car "bog", but if you have a computer-controlled distributor, the only kind wihtout vacuum advance, then it also doesn't have centrifugal advance. Total lack of advance will make it run generally sluggish all the time and seem lazy, use too much gas, and run hotter than it should especially cruising. Get the right distributor.

But it does NOT happen when you are at a cruising speed and gun it?

Is there a way to check my catalytic converter to see if it is clogged? How much are those trick kits?

How can you not get the right cat, aren't they all made the same, just different sizes.

Man, this is really just a common problem with the 3rd gens. First off you need to check your fuel filter, then you need to check the PSI comming from your fuel pump. With the fuel pump, they die, they just dont kill over, they slowly die. I had the same problem about a year ago and vader told me to check the fuel pressure coming from my fuel pump, so i did and WHAM there was my problem. Good luck.
Figured it out.... It was my carb. One of the jets were clogged. Cleaned it and now It runs like it used to. I'm glad I got that fixed because it was making me really mad.
