In car or out of car? Out of car should be no problem. In car may take some time longer.

lots will prolly say yes it is, but im gonna say no.

If you have never done it before then no. If uve dissasembled a lot of crap before on your motor then its possible.

I know myself it would take me longer then 4 hours.

yes! you can as I see your hsr will make it a bit quicker. most of it depends on your specific setup however I would guess you just have the intake, belt, balancer and pulley, waterpump , valve covers, timming cover, a/c condeser and radiator to remove and reinstall so yes. if you are in desperat need to do it that quick I don't see why not

I'd worry about doing right, rather than how fast.

when you put yourself on a time limit you're destined for disaster... something will always pop up unexpectedly, something will always leak, something will always be a PITA to get on/off... well atleast in my world this happens.

Worse case scenario, it took me a Sunday to strip it, a week to get the heads back, put the cam in and cleaned everything up over a couple of weeknights, then bolted everything else back up the next Saturday. Guess you could say 1 week.

My engine compartment though! Can we say, NO room. I would rather do them on a 4th gen LT1.

With my old 305 cam swap took 3 hrs start to finish changing all valvetrain parts (lifters/pushrods/rockers and valve springs) along with cam. I'd add an hour if I were doing heads also. heck they assemble full running engines on TV in 18minutes, so something as simple as a cam swap should'nt take that long

Dont rush though, your going to run into troubles and it'll just make you madder than it should...set aside the day and if your done sooner...your ahead of schedule.

I highly doubt it. It would take at least a weekend to do unless you have alll the tools/parts right when you need them and do not require breaks.

The operative question is what's the hurry? Do you have money bet on this? Only have four hours on a weekend to do this? Quoted someone flat rate? Only get paid flat rate?

Rush yourself and screw something up. If it's a hobby, take the time to check everything over twice.

I did it on and off again in the freezing cold and snow, and I had about 6-8 solid hours into it without help my first time. Second time, engine was out of the car, took me about 5 hours to R&R cam and heads, intake, roller rockers and set their lash. During my downtime at night I was cleaning the parts inside with degreaser.

Don't expect your car to fire up and be drivable for a few or you'll just **** yourself off.
