Hard start/ Bad gas mileage
O.K. Guys hears the deal, I had the timeing chain replaced on my 90 IROC 305 tpi car with 2.73 rear grars. The problem is that now the car starts hard after she is warm, and my gas mileage has dropped a bunch. From about 21 mpg to 14 mpg!!!!! The only thing done differently than stock is the mechanic advanced my cam +2 deg. What can I do to fix this other than tearing it all back apart???? Any help would be great!!!!!! Thanks Mark

You'd have to tear it all apart again to get the mechanical timing to 0.... if the mechanic never asked you if you wanted the timing advanced or retarded, then guess what... that mechanic gets to fix it for yah!

Advanced the camshaft itself 2° or the timing 2°? Two very different things. Under the assumption that the timing is what was set, might want to double check that it was set with the EST unplugged.

No it was the cam advance +2 deg' not the timing.
Have a brand new hypertech coolent temp swith, and it works fine.
This problem started after the timing chain was replaced. Before chain was replace and sloppy as hell the car got 21 mpg, after the chain was replaced and tight, it went down to 14 mpg. This is also 99% freeway driving.
